AN ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION TO THE ART OF BEEKEEPING, IS KNOWLEDGE

Understanding the dynamics and complexities of the honey bee and colony, and how the beekeeper plays a part, is key.

Bees are living creatures, and should be respected, and treated with care and compassion, even when they are demonstrating defensive behavior.

Before embarking on the endeavours of a beekeeper, be sure to source the underpinning  knowledge: read books, journals, blog posts etc. Join a local beekeeping club, and Texas Beekeepers Association. Join BCBA and attend meetings, which has a mentorship program evolving. Undertake online courses, in-person courses, workshops, conferences, webinars and apprenticeships. Finally, don't stop learning, even a seasoned beekeeper will learn something new.
